200b 427 HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les4/R.13.9.37. BENTLEY III FRAME. The sample steel .080" thick from Briggs Bodies is now in the Central Stores. Sufficient material has been ordered to produce 2 light type frames, less the frame side members. We have been unable to get Briggs material for side members as they do not stock the correct material in the required length. Will you please arrange for two frames to be built using this light material. If it is possible, the side members should be .104" instead of the present .128". The material received from Briggs should make:- 2 off FB.2948 2 " FB.2949 2 " FB.2954 2 " FB.2968 2 " FB.2969 2 " FB.2946 2 " FB.2947 As we have now obtained most of the torsion figures for the present Bentley III frame, we are very anxious to twist the first light frame so that a decision can be made as to the final thickness of various frame parts.
