Y 127. To Sr. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} ----------------------- ROY{Sir Henry Royce}8/MG20.12.32 Cold Pressed Frames for "Peregrine" ---------------------------------- The Frame makers, when producing such Frames cold-pressed, blank them to size before pressing, and send them in this state to the users. If Hot-pressed, it is their practice to blank them on the large side and then mill the edges. Messrs. Thompson are asking if we think it necessary to mill the edges of our Cold-pressed Frames, the extra cost involved being 7/6d per frame. As it is possible the edges may go a little ragged in the cold-pressed operation, what do you think? Possibly it would be sufficient for our purpose if they were blanked and cold-pressed. The sample Peregrine Frames Thompsons have already delivered were not blanked to size - no suitable tools being available - and were therefore milled prior to despatch. Now we are proceeding with bulk, the necessary blanking tools will be available. ROY{Sir Henry Royce} [Signature] | ||
