Re Steering Wobbles. X.457

I have repeated the tests to obtain the degree of reversibility of various makes of steering but in this series of tests a load was applied to the steering wheel giving a resistance of 100 inch lbs.

A lever was fixed to the stub axle and a pull (by means of weights on a cord running over a cycle wheel which made an excellent idle pulley) was exerted at a radius of 20" from the pivot pin.

The load was applied to the steering wheel by fixing a bicycle wheel rim to a piece of board and clipping the board to the steering wheel. A cord was then attached to the rim and circled round it, then passed over a cycle wheel which was bolted to a standard and weights were suspended from the end of the cord. The weight applied was 8 lbs at a radius of 12½".
