NO. OF ITEM. AND TITLE.
CAN BE REPORTED TO AMERICA.
MORE INFORMATION REQUIRED.
WE SUGGEST CAN BE DROPPED.

9. GEARS AND GEARBOXES.
Not discussed with Mr. Royce while I was present. We are asking EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} to obtain blue prints of the altered parts with a view to putting the case before Mr. Royce for a decision.

10. VALVES.
Mr. Royce was informed of this but made no comment. It is an alteration of very little importance and will probably be adopted by us in conjunction with valve spring washers having guides.

11. REAR AXLE CASE.
Mr. Platford informed Mr. Royce regarding these alterations, and it is understood that Mr. Royce objected to them. We suggest that EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} obtains blue prints of the altered casings, so that it can be seen exactly what has been done.

12. ENGINE GEARS.
Mr. Royce wishes Mr. Hives to experiment with slack in the intermediate gear wheel bearing, and see what harm results.

13. MAGNETO DRIVE.
The American scheme has 2 defects - (a) the front fabric is too near the exhaust pipe to be unaffected indefinitely by the heat, (b) the intermediate shaft unless centrally spigoted, revolves eccentrically, due to errors in the fabrics.
