-5- E .2/MN.4.6.35. Instrument Board (Contd.) question is the one with the centrally mounted large speedometer. Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} pointed out that the three spoke steering wheel gives a clearer vision of the instruments but it might be that the rim of the wheel is so disposed relative to the driver's eye that it will cut across the centre of the speedometer. It was agreed that this should be investigated. (l) Bumpers. A revision for a front bumper has been made. It was agreed that provision for a rear bumper, either of the complete type or of the quarter type will be made by Derby, as with the modern design of swept back bodies, from 80 to 90 per cent of cars require the rear bumper. (m) Bonnets. It was agreed that bonnet shutters be standardised for both types of bonnet, viz: the vertical and the sloping back ends. In the latter case the shutters will slope to suit the back of the bonnet and dummy louvres may be fitted by the coachbuilders, if the customer demands louvres on the grounds of appearance. A sample bonnet side fitted up in this manner was shown to the Conference at Sales and generally approved. (n) Luggage Carrier. As almost all bodies now have the swept design back of it was agreed not to supply a luggage carrier on the SpectreCodename for Phantom III chassis, and that the luggage be carried on the folding flap in the rear body panel. This feature will be incorporated in the enclosed limousine No.V and the Continental Touring Saloon, No.6. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
