X3579 Expl: Dept: Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby, England. Jan. 31st. 1923. OY. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} We should be pleased if you could supply us with the average dynamometer curves you obtain on the 40/50 cars. We believe that in the case of your dynamometer, the rear wheels are replaced by drums and belts are used to drive it. We should anticipate that owing to the fact of your having no tyre losses, the H.P. you obtain should be slightly higher than our average. We should be very much obliged for this information. I notice that you have been struggling considerably with the pressure feed system in arranging the oiling for the pump, different valves, modified hand pump etc. etc. What I marvel at is that you have had the patience to persevere with the pressure and why you did not go to the Autovac system. We are seriously considering the Autovac because we find that although it has limitations under average conditions, they are never apparent. The Autovac we are using is a rectangular tank fixed on to the engine side of the dashboard above the exhaust pipes. The capacity of it is approximately .9 English gallons. We admit that contd:- | ||
