manner to that arranged on the 40/50 h.p. model.
However, on the actual tank we have here, the holes necessary to do this have been used for the rivets or screws which fix the top flange to the raised portion of the tank.

The angle at which the unit is set will thus be altered in this experimental tank from what we believe to be your eventual intention. It will not affect our unit greatly, but it will make a slight difference to the position of the bottom bell in the tank.

Perhaps you will let us know about this at your earliest convenience.

With regard to the 40/50 h.p. tank, to Scheme N.sch.2571, we have found it advisable to set the unit at the bottom of the tubes, so as to bring the bell approximately horizontal. In this way we shall get our datum lower, and we believe account for some of the loss which you had owing to the angle of the bottom bell in the former installation.

We have placed the top cup off-set sideways, so as to be near the baffle, and as high as ever possible.

If you should be undertaking any pumping tests with this installation, it would be advisable not to break the air line and pressure balance line with the
