Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/L.8.1.41 - 2 - 6. BODY MOUNTING. It is now agreed that this experiment shall go forward on 9.B.V. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} said that there was another day's work on the metal pieces and that he would then take them over to Burton and get them finished off. 7. MODIFICATIONS TO B.V'S THAT ARE BEING RUN BY CUSTOMERS. (a) Lp.{Mr Lappin}'s car. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} will speak to Lp.{Mr Lappin} about his having had the pedal of his car altered in spite of the fact that he knew it had been so arranged for experimental purposes. (b) Rattles in Transmission. It was agreed that we shall see if we can cure this trouble on the trials car, by fitting a clutch centre with the maximum amount of damping. If this does not produce the desired result, we shall have to remove the clutch plate from Lp.{Mr Lappin}'s car and test it. 10-B-V is available for these tests as soon as the front wings are fitted, which are at present at Park Ward's. (c) Tyres. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} will take up with Avon's why they have not delivered the tyres they promised. Additional modifications recommended to customers' cars. 1. Carburetter modifications to improve consumption. 2. Balancing of propellor shaft. 8. INDUCTION SYSTEMS. The experiment on vacuum ignition control and carburation should terminate by a model car being put on the road, which has every known modification to improve consumption. Records will then be kept of its behaviour. Vacuum ignition on 4 B.50 9. HIGH POWER ENGINE. It was agreed that the high power engine shall be replaced in 9-B-V with an aluminium cam wheel and a new cam shaft and brought up to 100%. At a later date it will probably be fitted to 12-B-V.{VIENNA} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} should get out a specification for modifications necessary to the engine that has been built, to bring it into line with the unit which is going to be fitted to the Myth, and these parts should be made. In the meantime, the water connections etc., can be made by fitting a mockup wooden pump. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} will let us have a report within the next day or two to say what pieces he requires to enable him to complete the Ripplet. | ||
