Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}1/MJ.8.12.30 -5- Item (18) Fan Pulleys. The replacement of the bolted type of fan pulleys should shortly obviate the complaint. Item (19) Noisy Oil Pumps. No report but satisfactory work is in progress. Item (20) Engine Over-oiling, Piston Knocks and Piston Seizures. No report from Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} For future cars the fitting of the extra oil in conjunction with the starter carburetter should overcome the piston seizure and knock complaints. The overoiling has been fully dealt with in Depot Sheets 174 and 176. Item (21) Dynamo. No progress. Item (22) Central Lubrication Failure. Archer has gone into the general testing of the system and states that on future cars there should be no trouble. Item (23) Battery Box Suspension. A Depot Sheet (Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}186) has been instructed dealing with the extra support and reinforced battery box. Item (24) Carburetter troubles - Flooding, Air Valve Pin coming out and throttle sticking. These complaints have been fully dealt with in Depot Sheets Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}175, 176, and 177 issued Sept. and Oct.1930. Item (25) Valve Springs Breaking. Valves Sticking. We have reverted back to the original valve spring with the semi-closed end coil, also tightened up the fitting of the springs on the bottom washer to prevent swishing. These have now been issued to the Depots. We are carrying out further tests with a fully closed end which is free from any audible swish noise and equal to the present springs for period of bouncing. A Depot Sheet has been issued dealing with the valves. | ||
