- 2 - 1/- The tyre clearances in the wheel arch at the rear will be reduced by 1" and the side clearance on rolling bump will also be reduced, therefore the coachwork will require cutting away at this point in order to maintain our standard clearances. O.K. 2/- Chassis having cross steering levers G.73044/5 ? should be replaced by levers G.73955/6, together with a new cross steering tube in order to provide clearance between the ends of the cross steering tube and the wheels. Not necessary. G.73014/5 3/- The right hand lock should be reduced from 32° to 29° to provide clearance between the tyre and the chassis frame, and the left hand lock should be reduced from 39° to 37 1/4° in order to provide clearance between the larger tyre and side steering tube. O.K. It should be pointed out, however, that the front tyre pressure should be kept at 40 lbs. per square inch, also that the gear ratio of the car will be slightly increased by the larger diameter tyres. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} The same question arises as on the 20 HP only slightly modified: is it cheaper to fit well base wheels and tyres, which necessitate new cross steering levers on 40/50, than to fit 35x6.60 tyres on existing S.S wheels and carry out the necessary coach work alteration to suit, i.e. rear and front wing alteration etc.? what carrier alteration etc. ? efHshey | ||
