COPY. Y5840. G.W.Hancock, Hôtel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, FRANCE. To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}, From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}18/KT.15.6.33. Thank you for your note of 13.6.33. Bell is back and has told us all that has been done on the dampers. We shall start on production with your GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}2. gland. We still however want to get to the real source of the trouble and find out particularly where distortion is the major fact for causing leaks. Personally I believe it has a great deal to do with it. We are carrying out a lot of tests here. BRAKES. As far as we can recollect you did about 8000 miles on AMR.2 brake lining. We should like your opinion on the condition of the brake drums etc., as we propose to standardise this material for the Bentley. Also if you have noticed any increase in the rate of wear with the standard lining you have now fitted. Can you confirm that AMR.2. is more susceptible to squeaking than Ferodo bonded asbestos. We ourselves feel that is is so. Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} suggests that if you slacken off the swinging arm you will find that you have too much front braking. Will you check this. Another feature we get on our Bentley car with the front axle control is high frequency front axle jagger. The axle seems to go from the torque control outwards. It is such a high frequency that it might be mistaken for a servo jagger. Will you please watch this. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} suggests that you bring the car back almost immediately as it will be probably three weeks to a month before you can start your tests on the next Bentley. The car will be ready before then but Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is going to run it for a little time before handing it over to you. We will let you know by wire what is finally decided. We are glad that your clutch seems alright and that you have no rattles in the transmission. We may standardise the light clutch and the RAD.13 material on the results of your test.
