K110 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Smth.3/KW. 21st April, 1936. Messrs. Borg & Beck Ltd., Tachbrook Rd., Leamington Spa. For the attention of Mr. Barker. Dear Sirs, Confirming our visit to your Works yesterday, we discussed the question of cushioning and run out of the 13" driven plates. We are very anxious that these should not exceed .030" & .020" respectively, the run out being defined as the actual out of flatness as would be indicated if the driven plate were sandwiched between two flat surfaces normal to the axis of the hub. We do not wish at this stage to change the position of the horse-shoe slots unless we find it imperative, as we have done all test running using the existing design. We have written to Ferodo's urging the delivery of the 50 linings of "No.6" material, and trust that you on your part will do your utmost to press the matter. We should like you to advise us as soon as you are in a position to fit this material, so that we can make arrangements to return some discs. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. P.S. Enclosed is the cutting from the S.A.E. Journal which we talked about. Henry might consider emigrating to England as an alternative to diversifying. The Long advertisement on the other side seems to us to exemplify the futility of the semi-centrifugal clutch. | ||
