Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, With further reference to the visit of your Mr. Matthews and your letters of November 4th and 18th., we have pleasure in advising you that two sets of connecting rods were despatched to you at the beginning of this week, and we trust that by this time they are in your possession. We would like to have as soon as possible the approximate cost of the two experimental sets of bearings so that we can issue an order and thus arrange for the release of the rods and bearings from our Stores as soon as you return them. We note your remarks regarding tests on main bearings, and we would advise you that we are entirely in your hands in this connection. If you consider that the best course is to test out the big end and main bearings as two separate propositions, especially in view of the tests which you are carrying out in your own works, we will adopt your suggestion and directly the connecting rods are returned we will commence work. We shall be pleased if you would let us have your recommendations regarding the necessary clearances which should be given to these bearings, and also any other information which you think would be advantageous to us in carrying out the initial tests, so that we may at least start under the best possible conditions. Yours faithfully, DENNIS BROTHERS LIMITED. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Milne CUSTOMERS' CYCLES DRIVEN AT OWNER'S RISK ONLY. | ||
