1020a Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Mths.{Reg Matthews}21/JH. 15th December, 1937. Messrs. Dennis Bros. Ltd., Guildford, Surrey. For the attention of Mr.J.Milne. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 11th inst. and would state that the connecting rods have been received and that the bearings are now well advanced and we hope to give you delivery of them later this week. We certainly recommend running the connecting rod bearings before testing the main bearings particularly as we have not quite completed our latest tests on main bearings. The clearance we recommend for connecting rod bearings is 0.0012 to 0.0013 per inch diameter which means that for your size of pins the diametrical clearance should be .00375 - .004. With regard to costs we shall let you have these as soon as they are available which should be in the course of the next day or so. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
