Bentley Brake Judders.

We have now completed our experiments on brake jaggers, a full report on which will be submitted in due course.

The net result of these tests is that we have discovered an arrangement whereby we can balance the adjusting mechanism on the brake toggle shaft and, as far as we can ascertain at present, this is a complete cure for this disastrous complaint. We have also tested out alterations to the scheme suggested by the Design Dept. to improve it from a production point of view, and these modifications have not impaired the efficiency of the device. We hope to be able to get the designed parts fitted to 6-B-IV when it goes to France in a fortnight's time. The scheme is not an expensive one and should be applicable retrospectively.

In view of these results, and of the fact that we have run into brake squeaks when testing the reduced arc of embrace suggested in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/KW.15.6.36, we consider that we should not proceed further with the experiment of removing part of the front brake lining from Trials cars.
