Contd. -2- By 7/H 23.6.20. up with the Simms Company, and find out whether the gauges supplied were supposed to be suitable for our tank, when fitted in the manner described by Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} We are distinctly of the opinion that the trouble is our own, for an examination of the drawing goes to show that the bottom of the indicator does not reach the bottom of the tank, under which conditions it is quite impossible for the gauge to accurately register what is in the tank. We consider that Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}'s Dept. should complete the design by adding a pocket to the bottom of the tank so that the gauge can go right to the very bottom, and indicate correctly the contents of same. The bottom, of the indicator could be "steadied" into the fixing in question. The point for the Order Office to note is that we had asked Messrs. Simms to supply a gauge suitable for our tank, and did actually wait for some considerable time for the Simms Company to produce a gauge calibrated correctly, whereas it is obvious the instrument actually supplied is wrong, and we have had to instruct EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} to remove the gauges, and fit a plug in place of same. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
