xy7280 filing To Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} C. to MX.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} WOT. GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}1/MJ.26.8.29. S.S. STARTER CARBURETTER. -------------------------- To overcome the objection of E.P'and Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}'s complaint, re too fine a setting of the starter carburetter needle, we have tried a neddle with a slower taper to fit in the existing jets. This gives a much larger range for the setting and functions quite satisfactorily. We fins for a cold engine one full turn back from seating is the setting of the needle, as against one third of a turn at present. The setting for hot weather will be approximately five eighths of a turn. The fitting of this needle E.79503 does not mean any alteration to the existing machined parts. We should like to bring in a weaker spring EK3992 (this has been handed to E dept.) controlling the choke. This allows more air to enter for a slower rotation of the engine, and is less liable for a too strong a mixture entering the cylinders. The same applies when the cock is turned slowly off as the main carburetter is brought into action. GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} | ||
