BODY WEIGHT OF 20-G-4.

We would very much like to get to the bottom of the actual weight of the body on 20-G-4., not with a view to blaming anybody, or clear ourselves, but because we would like to know what the weight of the body is, for the simple reason we are convinced that this body with the specification we demanded could not be built any lighter.

If we are to believe your HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/LID{A. J. Lidsey}1/MA22132, the body weighs 10. cwt. 1.qr. 10.lbs. This is approx: 1 cwt. heavier than the 25HP. 6 seater Pullman. We cannot believe it.

[Handwritten note in left margin: 10 cwt. 1 qr. 10 lbs. -> without tools spare & accessories.]

The special features on the chassis are as follows:

Plus. Minus.
Dropped radiator - 8 lbs.
Large tank & increase of petrol - 30 lbs.. -
P. 2. silencer - 12 " -
Front expansion box - 8 " -
Front apron - 3 " -
[Handwritten note in left margin: 5 LBS. 12ozs. +]
Balance weights on engine & ) - 20 " -
larger crankshaft )
[Handwritten note in left margin: 1lbs ONLY. +]
Sheet metal battery box - 5 " -
*Synchro mesh gearbox - 20 " -
P. 80. lamps - 4 " -
Discs to wheels ? 50 " -
Rivetless bonnet - 5 " -
_______ _______
157 lbs. 8 lbs.
DIFFERENCE 149 lbs.

Weight of standard chassis - 2655 lbs..
" " standard spares - 113 "
" " standard accessories - 32 "
________
TOTAL 2800 lbs.

To this chassis weight we add the increased weight of the special features (149 lbs.) and taking this from the complete car weight of 35 cwt. 2 qr. 21 lbs., it leaves a body weight of 9 cwt. 1 qr. 12 lbs.

The weights given for the special features above are only estimated, and we would be pleased if you could weigh the new and old features so that a similar but accurate table could be made.
