Composition and harmful effects of Seekay Wax for ignition coils and evaluating Halowax as an alternative.

[Handwritten] WST SEEKAY WAX - IGNITION COILS. ------------------------- We have now received information in regard to the composition of Seekay Wax, and learn that it is a chlorinated napthalene and that the fumes in the wax as well as the wax itself are apt to set up dermatic effects with the operators. We therefore do not propose at this stage to proceed with our scheme for impregnating the ignition coils with this form of insulator. We have also been informed that a similar wax, so far as its insulation qualities are concerned, is obtainable from the Bakelite Co. under the name of "Halowax", and we are writing to the Order Office asking them to obtain a reasonable sample. We have also learned that the enamelled wires supplied by :- (a) London Electric Wire Co. (b) Feranti Limited. are impervious to attack by either Seekay Wax or Halowax, but that there are certain enamels for insulating wire which are attacked by Seekay wax and Halowax. Incidentally, I am informed that Halowax appears to have superior electrical characteristics to Seekay and we are therefore turning our attention to this latter wax as a means of improving our coil ignition.
