RC.{R. Childs} [redacted] ) FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} -BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} ) (At Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence.) [Strikethrough: Copy to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} [redacted]] R4/46.1.32. Sent from WW. 9.1.32. ENGINE CYLINDER LINERS. X4684. HL tells us, I understand, that .6 carbon steel liners, hardened to spring temper, would make better engines for reliability and durability, and this seems well within practical possibilities in the near future. I should welcome this until we can get something still better for hardness and expansion co-efficient. [Stamp: RECEIVED 1932 JAN 11] | ||
