GRY{Shadwell Grylls} X328 To EY. from HDY.{William Hardy} HDY.{William Hardy}1/HP.28.8.35. C.c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Ds. RHG. SECRET. SpectreCodename for Phantom III Gearbox. With the use of a reverse shaft with a closed bore as instructed on N. Sch.4592, the oil drain from the front end bearing cannot be lead to the reverse shaft as shown on N. Sch.4537, and G.83428 with safety. Accordingly we send N. Sch.4609 which shews a drain to the 2nd motion shaft bearing cavity. This position has been shown to be satisfactory on the Experimental test rig. We show the hole in the front end of the 2nd motion shaft reduced from .5 to .250 in order to give the shaft a tendency to feed oil to the rear. Means of dealing with existing covers are shown.
