one for D.O. use, the other can be demanded by any responsible person from the Works or any other Department. When the second print is booked out a replacement is ordered.

Blueprints are filed in metal cabinets of the type now used for letter files. The drawing sizes are arranged to fold up in to 10 x 14 (i.e. the smallest size is 10 x/4).

LOP's.

Having no Tracing Office LOP sheets have to be typed, and reproduced on the duplicator. A loose leaf book of both Experimental and Production sheets are kept in the D.O. When a model goes off production all records are sent to the Service Department.

Records Office.

This office issues piece numbers for all the parts, one range for experimental work, and another for production. No attempt is made to differentiate between the various classes of components or the model to which it is fitted. They claim that parts get used on all models, so that the differentiation is of little use.

The Records Office keep a history of all the parts used on production and distribute the information regarding production issues and change.

All the typists are in the Records Office.

Alterations.

Alterations are looked after by a staff of four men, who alter the drawings and prepare the change sheet. They also send out notification sheets to the Departments concerned to enable the point of introduction to be fixed.

The people who fix the point of introduction are the Material Control and the Operation Planning.

When an alteration is requested, it is put forward to the D.O. on a white sheet No.1. The D.O. investigate it from their point of view, and issue a greensheet No.2. This is sent to the various Departments affected. Nos.3 and 4 are sent as addressed.

When an alteration reaches this stage, a change warning is sent on the pink sheet, 22 copies are circulated. These are produced on a duplicator.

The D.O. receive a copy of the release note for every part.
