In reply to your memo Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/KW17.4.34. re an ex employee J.E.Barnes, we cannot trace a man of that name living at 17, Melbourne Street, but we had a James Edwin Barnes, an ex farm labourer who started as a labourer here on the 11th.Dec,1925 and left, owing to shortage of work on 2nd.July 1926, his address then being 19, Victory Rd. Whilst here his conduct and abilities were good. Regarding the attached letter from Mr.F.Jones, we have no vacancy at present and are writing him to that effect.
