I wonder whether you can tell me anything about a man called Mr. J.E. Barnes, of 17, Melbourne Street, Derby, who I understand at one time worked as a labourer for the firm ? In particular I would like to know whether he had a good character, and whether he left of his own accord or for any other reason.

I also attach a letter from Mr. Jones, who has done a certain amount of work on cars for a friend of mine and is anxious to obtain a job with the firm. He might be considered for a tester's job.
