49037 c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Exptl: Dept: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/LG. 15th. Mar. 1929. Messrs. Benton & Stone Ltd., Bracebridge Street, Birmingham. Dear Sirs, For the attention of E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Milner Esq. We are sending you herewith some of the filter elements which we have had on test with a mixture of petrol and water and 50/50 benzol mixture and water. As you will see they have corroded rather badly. We admit that these plates have been in a stagnant solution with a large percentage of water in it for over two months, but we are rather apprehensive as to the filter clogging completely with duralumin plates. We therefore suggest the advisability of your reverting to brass plates for the first few filters with which you supply us until we have ascertained whether we can reproduce our Laboratory conditions on the road. Yours faithfully, | ||
