Dear Mr Hives,

I understand from Mr Summers of Vickers(Aviation)Ltd that he mentioned the matter of the faulty brakes on my Continental Phantom, chassis 80 MS, to you.

I would consider it a great favour if, when next you are in this district, you would try this car yourself. I would also prefer to explain the case in detail to you personally rather than by letter.

Ever since the car was delivered, I have been compelled to complain about the brakes. I have usually directed these complaints to your Mr Abbott Anderson, who is the inspector for this district, without any material resultant improvement in their efficiency.

In no way do I wish this to be construed as a criticism of Mr Abbott Anderson.

When the car had done about nine thousand five hundred miles I took her to Derby, where the latest type brake drums
