8-cylinder High Power Unit.

30.G.VII fitted with the 8-cylinder high power engine was given its first road run to-day. The results of this preliminary test were exceedingly encouraging.

Briefly, we should say that they were as follows:-

(1) The 8-cylinder unit has not spoiled the handling of the car.

(2) The characteristics of the power units appear to be slightly better than that of the P.III for silence and smoothness.

(3) The performance of the car is better than that of the P.III fitted with a similar type of body.

We shall require two to three weeks to clear up minor installation problems before the car will be available, after which, anybody who is interested can try the car.

Its actual weight fitted with its engine and radiator to suit is 41 cwts. 1 qr. This compares with the standard P.III Limousine weight, as being sold to-day, of 53 cwts.
