40/50 SHOCK ABSORBERS.

K7 5201

19-EX. car which is now in France is fitted with automatically controlled shock dampers.

As the car has been used for demonstration runs on these occasions the automatic scheme has been turned off but we attach herewith a report from Mr. Slater of the Paris Depot, and also a report from our man.

We have a very high opinion of Mr. Slater's criticisms of cars running in France. He has had considerable experience with various makes of cars.

On the whole we consider the reports are very satisfactory for the first tests.

The car is now proceeding to Chateauroux and will be under G.W.Hancock for experimental tests in connection with the automatic control.

I think we can safely say that the Phantom car, as represented by 19-EX., is a very big advance over previous models. Actually we have not looked inside 19-EX. engine nor has the car been overhauled since the last 15,000 miles in France. We have, of course, modified the gearbox and had the cylinder head off, but we have not pulled it to pieces.
