TO ~~BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}~~ FROM AJS. C. to ~~C.L.R.~~ HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I SEQUENCE STARTER. X 7650 ~~X650~~ With reference to our memo. AJS1/M6126., we now send you herewith drawing Lec. 2195. shewing the alterations required to the automatic starter switch. The alterations consist mainly in the addition of an extra terminal so that connections can be suitably made to the duplex press button switch we are designing for this. It should be noted that the conductor which we mark 'Y' on drawing herewith, and which was shewn on drawing D.70803., has now been abandoned, it originally being the starting end of main switch coil attached to auxiliary switch frame. The starting end of main switch coil is now attached to a new terminal indicated at 'A' on our drawing. The conductor from earth terminal to auxiliary switch hold on coil is naturally placed well above those indicated in view 'X', and conductor from finishing end of main switch coil to terminal should be arranged below 'B'. Now that conductor indicated by 'Y' is absent, and 'C' has been substituted for conductor originally taken from ingoing side of resistance to auxiliary switch frame, terminal plate on hinge end of auxiliary switch frame has become a clamping plate only. The conduit carrying the conductors away from the base of the automatic switch appears ample for the accomodation of the additional conductor from the new centrally placed terminal, the conductors now being symmetrically arranged three on either side of the bakelite bolt boss. The practical wiring diagram shewn on our drawing is now suitable for the instruction book. The colours of the conductors are arranged to coincide with those on the technical wiring diagram we will forward by the next post. The colours of conductors do not necessarily coincide with those actually on the chassis, but this is of no importance, as the practical wiring diagram of chassis, with conductors leading to the units only, will have these suitably arranged. As weather conditions at the moment do not permit of printing, will BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} kindly forward a print to R.{Sir Henry Royce} AJS. | ||
