PROPOSALS
REMARKS

12. To eliminate drilling of small holes it is proposed that double ended lock plates be used for crown wheel retaining nuts.
Yes

13. Question of deleting spotfacings for nuts on axle tubes to be considered. This can be done by thickening flange or increasing bolt centres, but will involve some increase in weight.

14. In order to avoid need for special oil level plug, it is proposed that plug having same part no. as oil drain plug be used.
Yes

15. Since B.50. axle is of semi-floating type, duty of half shaft diff.wheels is heavier than formerly and it may be found necessary to revert to bushes in diff.box bores.

16. In order to eliminate need for adjustment washer, it will probably prove more economical to retain hub bearings in hsg. GB.3730, by means of internal nut.

17. Brake carrier plate is at present trapped between spring pad flange and hub bearing hsg. This will lead to oil leaks from bearing housing if plate is not perfectly flat, and plate should therefore be fitted on outside of bearing housing flange.

18. Scalloped profile on side plate where Bearing Cover GB.3683 fits to be made circular in shape to simplify forging.
