B.III AND B.50 ROAD WHEELS

For the above chassis we propose to buy the pressed steel wheels for use with the semi-floating rear axle from Joseph Sankey & Sons, Ltd., Wellington, Shropshire. We have ordered the remaining samples for Experimental cars from this firm.

Comparative costs of sample wheels are:-

| Firm | Cost per wheel | Temporary Tools | Cost for making first 5 wheels. |
|---------|----------------|-------------------|---------------------------------|
| Sankeys | 10s. 0d | Sankey's expense | £2.10s. 0d. |
| Dunlops | £2. 0. 0d | £60. 0. 0d | £70. 0. 0d |

For quantities of 2,000 wheels the comparison is as follows:-

| Firm | Cost per wheel | Tools |
|---------|----------------|------------|
| Sankeys | 7s. 10d | £95. 0. 0d |
| Dunlops | 9s. 7d. | £200. 0. 0d|

We told Dunlops that there price was unsatisfactory for production supplies, and gave them the approximate figure quoted by their competitors. Dunlops have re-examined their cost, but can make no reduction.

An examination of Sankey's factory shows it to be efficient and having good up-to-date equipment. They are pleasant people to deal with, and we consider that their wheels should be perfectly satisfactory.
