We have made some tests of the deflection of fan blade tips on production chassis and we find that they tend to move away from the radiator.

The maximum [strikethrough] deflection at 4,500 R.P.M. is .120.

The rate of deflection is greatest between 2000 and 3000 R.P.M.

It will be seen from the above that there would be no danger in allowing fan blades to be as near as say .150 to the radiator matrix.
