| x224 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} c. Sft.{Mr Swift} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}3/Hr.28.3.34. Bentley Fan. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}7/KW.14.3.34. We find that owing to an instructional error the production Bentley fans are nearer to the radiator than the position of the fan on the 10,000 miles Bentley car. Will By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} please instruct (as soon as convenient without producing scrap) modifications to move the fan back to 1.125" from the matrix at the leading edge of the top blade (or .750" from the matrix at the leading edge of the bottom blade). This should be done by reducing the fan hub the required amount in a similar manner to the modification shewn on LeC.3784. We should like to introduce, in addition, as early as possible the modification to the starting handle dog shewn on LeC.3784 as at the moment it is not possible to change a fan belt on the Bentley car without removing the front crossmember. We should be glad if Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will arrange for this to be tested and reported on as soon as possible. It is fitted to chassis B.23-AE. E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} | ||
