-2- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}5/R.14.12.36. (1) There is no positive remedy at the present time of curing clutch jaggers. The setting of the clutch fingers is important, and to obtain the necessary degree of accuracy a steel plate is used in place of the centre driving plate to set the fingers. The Depots are being supplied with a model plate for this operation. There are a number of clutches which are very smooth in the take up. (2) Excessive oil consumption. The Experimental Dept. have no other cure than fitting L. shaped rings. (3) Fouling of plugs due to over-oiling if not cured by mileage will have to have L shaped rings fitted. (4) The failure of the oil temperature radiator matrix should not become a complaint. The Works test of the matrix having to withstand 200 lbs pressure was not in force for the first 10 cars despatched. It is proposed to change, if possible, the remaining 8 matrices that are in service. (5) The damage to the flywheel starter ring was caused by a faulty starter motor, particulars of which have been reported. (6) Float punctured. (7) Loss of water from radiator from joint of steam pipe. The manufacture of these two items is being dealt with by the Works. (8) Dynamo failures. The faulty fuses that got into service have been mostly dealt with. There should not be many more failures due to this cause. (9) Windtone horns. These were never satisfactory on 10,000 miles test. The failures are due to several causes, dampness being the chief. (10) Petrol Pumps. The latest modified pumps have not given any trouble inservice. Depots have been warned to check the pumps supplied direct from S.U. as loose union and caps have been found. All the pumps at the Works are tested. | ||
