It is quite possible for parts of the kit to fall on to the instruments, which we pointed out. We suggested that a cardboard box for the instrument patch would both keep them clean and lessen the risk of falling pieces on to the patch. The matter of rust Park Wards pointed out was due to our method of non-protection during testing and transit. We proceeded to Hoopers & Co. Their system of dealing with the instruments is very similar, but with this difference. The store room is clean and practically dust proof. The heavy kit is placed in one cubby hole and the instrument patch and electric horns in another cubby hole. There is no danger of falling objects on to the instruments. We were quite satisfied with their arrangements. The question of complaints of faulty clocks in particular was mentioned, and both Mr. Arrow Smith and Hooper's Manager remarked that there was very few from Hoopers. Their Manager remarked that this used not to be so, and he found that the reason, in his opinion was due to all classes of people in their employ winding the clocks up. This practice was definitely stopped and forbidden, resulting in practically no complaints. I must say Hoopers struck one with the cleanliness throughout the Factory, whilst Park Wards is the reverse.

I have passed the information on to Kingsbury re winding clocks. The A.I. people do not give a satisfactory answer to the failure of clocks losing time. They are working on the new motor electric clock.
