ADJUSTMENT OF EXHAUST THROTTLE CONTROL. U.S. ENGINES ROD E.71869 LEVER T.1865 NOTES ON ADJUSTMENT 1. DISCONNECT ROD E.71869, BY UNSCREWING PIN AT THE CARBURETTOR THROTTLE LEVER, LEAVING IT FREE AT THE GOVERNOR CONTROL LEVER. 2. THE CRANK OF THE EXHAUST THROTTLE SHOULD NOW BE TURNED SO THAT THE LEVER E.71987 TOUCHES THE PIN IN THE AXLE HOUSING, AND BE HELD IN THIS POSITION, WITH THE ROD E.71869 PULLED HARD FORWARD AGAINST THE EXHAUST THROTTLE LEVER. 3. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT WHEN MAKING THIS ADJUSTMENT THE CARBURETTOR THROTTLE MAY BE FULLY OPEN. 4. WHEN THE EXHAUST THROTTLE IS IN THE CLOSED POSITION THE CARBURETTOR THROTTLE SHOULD BE OPEN.
