fusion about the spares. The best squeak damper was also fitted good and simple:

(3) Regarding the gearbox it has now been demonstrated that the torsionally free double pinion combined with a suitable position and length of the broached teeth to fit the splines definitely and uniformly cures every gearbox of this pattern from working out. This is a piece of good news and is a continuation of the lines we have been working XXXXXX except that it has been found necessary to go further and more completely than at first was thought, and the long delay with this trouble has been caused by the inconsistency with which the gears have behaved, many staying definitely in, when occasionally an odd one worked out. It is now reported that any bad one can be cured by merely removing portions of the teeth engaging the splines so that parallel splines and parallel bore wheels having teeth in advance of the gear teeth is uniformly satisfactory. It may interest you to know that we can only cover a part of this by patent, which we have done, and other people have been in the same trouble, and have not, as far as we know, found a uniformly satisfactory solution. Amongst them are the Daimler CO., and the Lanchester Co.

A further point with reference to this and EAC. gearbox is the driving angle of splines need not be altered. Anything which is convenient to manufacture is found to be satisfactory up to 45° driving angle.
