Re: CHASSIS 3.BU.144 - Lord SOMERS

We thank you for your N.10/RH.{R. Hollingworth}21.2.39. Concerning paragraph 2 of your memo, we have now received a letter from Lord Somers' driver, dated the 21st instant, the contents of which we give hereunder:

"In reply to your letter of the 20th, the place
"approx. where the noise first commenced was
"between Sens and Fontainebleau. After Fontaine-
"bleau I drove at 30 m.p.h. and it gradually be-
"came worse."

We should mention that Sens is 110 Kms. from Pa{Mr Paterson}-ris and Fontainebleau 60.

We confirm having received a telegram from Works, worded as follows:

CHASSIS 3.BU.144 SENDING NEW CRANKSHAFT AIRMAIL TOMORROW WRITING

We are now awaiting the arrival of the crankshaft and, as mentioned to you over the telephone this morning, we shall need the car from two to two and a half weeks after the arrival of the crankshaft, in order to complete all the work.

As also explained to you over the telephone, we are very busy at present moment. We shall, however, do our utmost to complete the repairs as quickly as possible.

As requested we will examine the wheels of the car and replace any broken spokes.

Sr/VA.
