six month's use on the road, this being caused by corrosion of the zinc base filter bowl, at the outbreak of war we decided, therefore, to go to a brass filter bowl.

We had one other difficulty caused by swelling of the Neoprene gland which was insufficiently housed, this was overcome on later ones. We also had difficulty with noise, the only cure for which we found was to mount the pump on the engine itself. The noise was caused, apparently, by water hammer effects which were telephoned along the petrol pipes, when the pump was mounted on the engine this caused no trouble.

Yours faithfully,

for THE S. U. CARBURETTER CO. LTD.
