Clan Foundry. N O T I C E I quote hereunder copy of a letter received from the London, Midland & Scottish Railway Company :- " Mr........and 3 others: Travelling irregularly It is reported to me that on the 15th instant Mr....... and three other of your staff employed at Belper travelled from Belper to Duffield by the 7-41 p.m. train first-class holding third-class weekly season tickets, although they were requested at Belper to travel in a third-class vehicle, there being ample third-class accommodation. On arrival at Duffield they were asked to pay the difference in fares, third-class to first, and at first said they would do so, but when the excess receipts were partly made out they refused to pay and entered a third-class carriage. Six minutes delay was caused to the train in consequence. I do not in this instance propose to press for the payment of the difference in fares, Belper to Duffield, to which we are entitled, but I shall be obliged if you will point out to the people concerned that in addition to being quite irregular their action caused delay not only to themselves but to the whole of the passengers in the train, and if there is any repetition it will be necessary to consider the matter further. I feel sure that you will desire to assist us in preventing avoidable delays of this nature which are likely to inconvenience other passengers using the trains, including other members of your staff, who are travelling in accordance with the tickets held. " I suggest that the people using the train should not take undue advantage of the Railway. As is indicated in the letter, unless strict attention is given to the matter, the train may be withdrawn, and any special facilities given may be cancelled. So the advice to be noted is: Don't take undue advantage of people's kindness. For and on behalf of ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED JOHN DeLOOZE Secretary. | ||
