x8410 To RIC. From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}5/MJ.10.12.29. PHANTOM 1 SPECIAL FRONT SPRINGS. We wish to modify a pair of special front springs A.8456 at present in the stores, to reduce their rating and increase their initial camber. The springs have been tested to give 3¼" deflection at 960 lbs. load. We want them to have 4.5" free camber and to give 4.5" deflection at 1125 lbs. load. We think the required reduction in rating can be obtained by grinding .015 off each leaf (14 leaves). Will you therefore please reduce the thickness of the leaves as specified, grove the top five leaves for the lubrication scheme (print attached) set up to increase free camber and cadmium plate after testing for load. The reduction in depth of the spring will of course necessitate machining the spring clips. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} | ||
