PHANTOM III.

35-EX.
Tests with overdrive gearbox. Fixed tappet mechanism. Expl. rear engine mounting. Lucas coils, petrol pumps in the frame. Different makes of cyl. liners. Carburation tests being carried out to produce the same results in the carburetter as fitting taper 4 1/2° packings.

39-EX.
Chassis stripped in the fitting shop.

BENTLEY 4 1/4-LITRE.

3.B.4.
Fitted with 10-43 axle gears and small wheels 6.50 x 17 tyres, stiffened axle shafts. Girling rear brakes. O.D. gearbox. New camshaft EB.3240 long toes as P.III rockers with W/M bores. Die cast AC.6 main bearings. Delco Remy ignition, special valve springs Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}260 Swedish Wire, cooling by thermostats and fixed shutters. Used for obtaining tyre data on the Skid pan.

6.B.4.
Used for obtaining further experience with overdrive gearbox, 10 x 43 axle gears, small wheels and large tyres 6.50 x 17. Centricast main bearings AC.6 R.R. shims, Brinell 58-72. Thermostats and fixed shutters.

B.56.BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}
Fitted with hydraulic brakes to front, R.R. rear, for B.50 experience, also used for clutch tests.
