Re B-65-AE..Mr.Richard Summers:-

The following is extract from letter received from Mr.Richard Summers:-

"With regard to the car itself, I have had a talk with Mr.Hives, and yesterday he sent some representatives over from Derby who made one or two adjustments. The springing, as I have previously stated, is not as good as the open car which I tried last Autumn, and I think perhaps it will be best for me to take this matter up with Mr. Robotham when he comes back from the United States. The amount of movement on the front wings and head lamps is a matter which I think might also be discussed with him.

I understand from one of the representatives from Derby that you are proposing to overcome the difficulty of reading the speedometer and revolution counter by turning the dials the other way up; this, I take it, would entail supplying a new pair of instruments. If this is the case, I should like every precaution taken to see that I get an absolutely accurate pair of instruments - the pair which I have at present seem to me to be very nearly dead accurate. Those fitted to the two demonstration cars which I tried seemed to be very optimistic.

Also, if possible, I should like the speedometer mileage recorder set at the same reading as my existing one will have reached at the change, as I attach considerable importance to keeping accurate records of mileage."

Will you please arrange accordingly in due course, presumably on Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}'s return, as I understand you really want Mr.Summers to run the car a bit longer first.

What about the instruments? Would you propose changing these at once, or would you suggest they wait until the same time?

C.
