We have now tested the W.W. designs of silent 2nd. gear on Peregrine(Experimental Bentley car never produced / Aero Engine), 20/25 and 40/50. On all three chassis there has been no tendency for the engaging dogs to work out of mesh on drive, overrun, or light running. The Peregrine(Experimental Bentley car never produced / Aero Engine) box has completed 10,000 miles successfully. The Phantom and 20/25 boxes will shortly be running in France on 27-EX and 18.G.IV. respectively. The sliding piece in the 40/50 box is that shown in the lower half of N.Sch.3631.
