ORIGINAL TO EG. FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to - HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E3/M11.12.25. re. RR. F.10. X3804 4550 With regard to testing the Falcon engine, would you kindly note that memo. E2/M11225., also applies to the Falcon, that is to say, the engine should be tested without the supercharger, and the simplest and most convenient form of induction system that can be rigged up. The revised ratio of gearing for driving the supercharger will not be sent through just yet. The timing gear drive should be provided with a stiffer shaft in the absence of the supercharger. This shaft will no doubt have to transmit a more fluctuating torque on RR. F.10. than E.16., but should it give any trouble we propose to use a damping device, of which a sketch will be sent with a later memo. | ||
