To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from AJS. c. to CJ. RG.{Mr Rowledge} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X3829 AJS2/M4.12.28. RR. E.16. DIRECT DRIVE NOSE AND THRUST BEARING. X.3829 X.3159 The results of the thrust tests on the New Departure bearing No.215 recently made by Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, and a discussion with Col. Fell regarding the thrusts taken by propellers in practice bears out our belief that bearing No.215 can be used in place of bearing No.313 for the thrust bearing for direct drive on the above engine. In view of this we send you herwtih drawing Lec.2177 ( sent to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Friday last) shewing modifications required to the shaft and bearing housing to enable bearing No.215 to be incorporated on the same lines as No.313 was previously. The aforegoing modifications will considerably lighten the whole job. AJS. | ||
