(8) Magneto Drive.
Still using old type on plea that new scheme is noisy as they are able to produce it.

(9) Lubrication of Universal Joint behind Gearbox
Our latest scheme for using a pipe between joint and a fitting on side member where oil gun is attached not adopted. They are trying to lubricate automatically from gearbox. This is not thought by us to be practicable.

(10) Strengthening up of internal sphere (fixed) of Universal Joint.
This is unnecessary - never had more than one failure in England on 4000 cars and then due to part being made far too thin.

(11) Adoption of a lengthened Ignition Switch on the Dashboard permitting them to use Klaxon Push Button on top of Steering Column.
It is thought desirable to improve the type of push button they adopted.

(12) Luggage Carriers fitted as standard.
This considered desirable.

(13) Bonnet.
Handles on each side have been fitted - a similar scheme has been standardised at Derby. Details have been supplied to America.

(B) Modifications made to enable them to produce with sufficient accuracy by different methods from those adopted in England.

(1) Air Pump design modified.
Flat valve is used instead of a conical seated valve with the object of allowing the cylinder to be broached, as they could not obtain the accurate fits we called for in America by grinding. One does not consider the flat valve is good for air retaining as a conical one.

(2) Design of Oil Pump Gear modified.
The helical teeth are used for the Oil Pump instead of plain spurs, the reason being that America were unable to obtain spur gears cut sufficiently well to run. Derby have, however, recently sent along a scheme shewing how we have been able to overcome the difficulty in question.
