THROTTLE GOVERNOR TESTS.

These tests were carried out on the road to demonstrate the relative value of the alterations to the governor. Individual readings have not been put in.
These varied very widely from the line given in the case of the plain cam and camshaft bearings, very little in the case of the roller cam and ball bearing camshaft.
The nature of the tests exaggerate the difference between the EAC, and the 40/50. If the EAC. hand control is moved fairly quickly, the governor as at present fitted up will bring the car to a fixed speed; it is only when moved slowly, notch by notch, that the lag can be detected between going up and coming down. Previously with the plain cam and bearings one was always aware of the lag.
We consider that almost all the remaining stiction is due to unbalanced suction. Where the governor is weak its leverage is high, where strong, low. The unbalanced suction does not vary very much at the throttle openings at which our test was conducted.
