From the Rolls-Royce experimental archive: a quarter of a million communications from Rolls-Royce, 1906 to 1960's. Documents from the Sir Henry Royce Memorial Foundation (SHRMF).

Amplitude of Steering Wheel Movement
FREQUENCY
OLLEY MAR 9/36
DUBONNETS give much of A, little c B
Good on road with a little friction in kingpins.
WISHBONES with stiff steerings have little of A, much of B. Fight badly till steering is 'tuned down' which makes A worse on the drums, but eliminates B.
Typical curve of wheel fight.
Start of Low frequency.
Low freq. fight. Almost a low speed wobble.
Successful wishbone steerings are tuned to give a natural freq. of wheelflap somewhere in this-range (Present observations)
Max Wheel Hop.
Have you tuned up your steering to give a frequency in this range?
