SALES DIRECTOR'S OFFICE.
27th January, 1936.

Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ld.,
DERBY.

Attention of Mr.W.A.Robotham.

Dear Sirs,

PHANTOM 111 JACKALL.

We acknowledge receipt of yours of the 25th January, Ref. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}12/KW., and are terribly sorry to note that the Springs on the front Jacks have failed.

May we state that when designing the special Jacks for the Phantom 111 we asked Mr. Douglas Terry to visit us with his Technical Representative in order to leave nothing to chance in our efforts to produce a thoroughly satisfactory and efficient jack. In fact, we left ourselves entirely in the hands of Messrs. Terry after having explained the situation.

Upon examination of the returned spring we find that it has fractured at the hook end. It is curious, seeing that the whole of the remainder of the spring design has been considerably strengthened that Messrs. Terry should have seen fit to supply the same thickness of steel as that employed in the smallest type of Jackall spring. We are immediately asking our friends to visit us and you may rest assured that the matter will be taken care of with a modified hook end.
